July 10: Wednesday Reflection

July 10, 2019

Dear Friends,

Recently I was able to have dinner with a friend. When we finished, she read her fortune cookie that said, “A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.” Another great quote that makes a lot of sense and gives me a lot to think about.

Having time to spend with friends we haven’t seen for a while is gift. It can be very energizing and bring much happiness. I wonder if that is how Jesus felt when he visited those whom he considered his friends as he traveled through the Israeli countryside or when he spent time with his Apostles. The time and the space was likely small but I imagine it brought much happiness. “A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.”

The quote also reminded me of the people that I ministered with in Haiti. They had so little, yet I never saw so many smiling faces. I have seen so much sadness, though, displayed by people who live in abundance. I guess, it is all a matter of perspective. Do I have what I want or want what I have? Today, like others, I can experience the desire to accumulate more and more. But, can I be satisfied with what I have? “A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.”

The summer time is a great chance to look at what we have and if we are living our lives to the fullest no matter what size house we live in. Spend a little extra time on developing your relationship with God, your family and friends. You will never regret it. I am truly grateful for the time I am getting to develop my relationships and counting all as gift. Thank you, God, for the abundance in my life and the lives of those around me. “A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.”

Till next week,
Sister Theresita
