The Old Testament reading from Gn 9:8-15 refers to our covenant relationship with God, who has loved us from all eternity. In Mark 1:12-15, Jesus spends his days in the desert fasting in prayer while the angels ministered to him. Our Lenten mantra to “Repent and believe in the Gospel” calls us to change our lives through prayer, fasting, and good deeds. Our prayer can include the following. ACTS: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Lifting our minds and hearts to God, receiving the grace of the sacraments, and being aware of our neighbors in need will help us transcend ordinary “everydayness” to embrace the spiritual this Lent. May God be praised for our efforts.
