As we continue to live Easter as a verb and not a just a noun, I pray that you are being surprised by the different experiences you may be having. With this in mind, I want to share something different with you.
During Easter Week, our Business Manager at Sts. Philip and James Church, Virginia Portanova, celebrated The Stations of the Resurrection. (Sr. Catherine Duenne – Twenty-Third Publications) I would like to share them with you.
First Station – Jesus is Raised from the dead. (Matt 28:5-6)
Second Station – Women find the Empty Tomb (Matt 28:1-7)
Third Station – The Risen Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene (John 20:14b-18)
Fourth Station – Jesus Joins the disciples on the Road to Emmaus. (Luke 24:13-27)
Fifth Station – Jesus is Known in the Breaking of the Bread. (Luke 24:28-32)
Sixth Station – Jesus Appears to the Disciples in Jerusalem. (Luke 24:38-40)
Seventh Station – Jesus Gives His Disciples Peace and Inspires Forgiveness. (John 20:19b-20)
Eighth station – Jesus Deepens the Faith of Thomas. (John 20:24-29)
Ninth Station – Jesus eats with His disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. (John 21:10-12)
Tenth Station – Jesus Forgives Peter and Commands Him to Feed His Sheep. (John 21:15-17)
Eleventh Station – Jesus Commissions His Disciples. (Matt 28:19-20)
Twelfth Station - Jesus Ascends to Heaven. (Mark 16:19-20)
Thirteenth Station – Mary and the Disciples Gather in Prayer. (Acts 1:12-14)
Fourteenth Station – The descent of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:2-4)
There you have it! What a wonderful way to go through your week.
I have included the Scripture references so that they can help place you in the midst of the scene. After all the events of the Triduum, these stations are a wonderful way to journey through the Prayer of Imagination and the Easter Season.
May your week be filled with resurrection stories!
Till next week,
Sister Theresita
PS: Just saw this and it put a smile on my face, may it add gladness to your day. “The church is empty but so was the tomb! God is making house calls!”
