Gospel: John 20:1-9
The Easter Liturgy is filled with great mystery and a call to deep faith. Jesus is Risen! He is not where they laid Him. The tomb is empty.
The Easter story touches our senses with a holy fire in the darkness. An organ rendition of Alleluia! Alleluia! And choirs sing forth songs of jubilation and praise! Altars once empty during our Lenten time of fasting and prayer; are now blooming with colorful flowers and calling us to celebrate a new life of joy, love, and peace.
Yes, the message is quite clear. The tomb is empty. Jesus is risen indeed! In our personal journey, we are invited to encounter Him when He gently calls our name in the silence of a garden, or perhaps in the silence of a hospital room, or at a family dinner table. Do we stop and listen? Do we believe that the Jesus laid in the tomb is alive and lives and walks among us?
Lord, give us eyes to see You among us. Give us ears to hear your call in the simple and ordinary. And give us hearts to respond with generosity and family love. Amen. Alleluia
