Gospel Reflection: Feb. 24, 2018 – 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time

February 23, 2019

LK 6:27-38

Has anyone ever told you that you do things the way your parents do or did them? We are very happy to hear those types of comments in our lives! In this Sunday’s Gospel we are challenged and reminded to imitate our Heavenly Father. Be like God who is kind and merciful to everyone whether they are rich or poor, young or older, famous or not known at all. Even someone who is very lowly is very important and within God’s merciful embrace. God’s way of treating people is so magnanimous that we may feel we cannot reach that goal, but we must trust God’s grace, which is bountiful. St. Paul reminds us that God’s grace is ALWAYS sufficient; so let us ask to be filled with God’s love and compassion this day so that we may, in turn, radiate these gifts to those in our midst.

There are many difficult situations in today’s world. The task of our discipleship is to represent the message of the Gospel wherever we go and in whatever we do. We may never know the impact of our presence, kind work or merciful glance in this lifetime, but to “be God’s hands, feet and smile” in this world is powerful indeed!
