Double Vision – A Poem by Sr. Frances Smalkowski

April 13, 2020

This cherry tree surrounded by forsythia bushes inspired our Sr. Frances Smalkowski to write a poem. Look closely at the photo: can you see the love in the spring-time blossoms?

Double Vision

Two large forsythia bushes in full bloom.
Stately standing in front of them --
Is an early flowering cherry tree
Displaying in the shape of a heart.
Because of the unique beauty of this tree,
I am able to see more clearly
The ravishing yellow blossoms on either side.

I see love and understand more deeply
Its role in showcasing,
A "making visible" of what it quietly frames.
I am reminded of the essence of life's call.
