Advent Haiku: a poem by Sr. Celeste Hupert

November 27, 2020

Our Sr. Celeste Hupert wrote this poem in 2019 as she watched the leaves outside her window falling to the ground. She noticed that a few of the leaves clung to the branches until the last moment.

As we enter another Advent during this challenging year, Sr. Celeste’s poem encourages us to release those things which hold us back from encountering “the present of the Presence” of Jesus.

Clinging little leaf
It is time to let go now
Dark will shine again

Time to let go of
That which is holding you back
Peace will come again

Time to let go of
thoughts of fear and anger, too
From your inner heart

Time to let go of
The pet peeves and much much more
So peace reigns within

Time To let go of
The Me, myself and the I
Emmanuel enters

Time to hold on to
The present of the Presence
In my heart and soul

Come, Lord, Jesus come
Be present within me now
Fill me with your love!
