On this Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Mark’s account uses forceful words: “On coming out of the water He saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon Him. And a voice came from the heavens, ‘You are my beloved… in you I am well pleased’.”
During this new year of 2021, our Heavenly Father celebrates humanity.
I wonder: Are my daily interactions as hope-filled, loving, and kind as Jesus’ response toward others? In our chaotic world, perhaps that is what we need most—to affirm others and make choices for the common good while supporting our neighbor rather than ourselves.
Pray for the poor and forgotten, and be kind to someone at every opportunity, so that God is praised and pleased.
