Our own Sr. Barbara Sudol has recently published her fifth book, a collection of short stories titled Tales of the Anawim. This collection of twelve short stories explores the concept of the Anawim, “the ever present poor, the powerless, the neglected, and the outcasts” that exist within our societies. Each short story in the collection addresses the obstacles faced by today’s Anawim, and the journeys that may be taken, through the intercession of God’s grace, towards healing.
The short stories in this collection look at the Anawim from all walks of life and address everyday concerns such as poverty, illness, and addiction, exploring the human capacity to rise above circumstance at every turn. These very human tales will resonate with readers who see shades of their own struggles reflected in the carefully wrought characters that Sr. Barbara has created, be they contemporary incarnations or even modern takes on fairy tales.
We’re pleased that Sr. Barbara has chosen to share her work with the world! Our Nazareth family has long supported our sisters’ creative endeavors, and we know that Sr. Barbara’s latest work will speak to the hearts and minds of all who read it.
Tales of the Anawim: A Short Story Collection, as well as several of Sr. Barbara’s other published works, is available on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle formats. To order, click here.
