Gospel Reflection: March 14, 2021 – 4th Sunday of Lent

March 13, 2021

John 3:14-21

We’ve all seen it…on billboards, at sporting events, bumper-stickers, even on facemasks during these COVID times! John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”

In my former convent, I lived on the 3rd floor. It was a big house and the bedrooms all had numbers. My bedroom was 316. I recall telling folks how excited I was to be in the “God-So-Loves-Me” room. After some raised eyebrows, I got to give my mini-sermon on John 3:16. Seriously, though, every time I approached my door and saw the number sign, my heart did little cartwheels, squealing with delight at the reminder that I am loved, especially when there were hard days and I was struggling. Where do you see the signs of the love of God? When does your heart rejoice in the faith that come what may, God loves you into life, eternal life?
