Jesus invites Peter, James, and John to the mountaintop to pray. It was in that experience that they saw Jesus in glory and heard the Father proclaim, “This is my chosen one, listen to him.”
Daily we are invited to pray, to come to Jesus in our own quiet place and in silence listen to him. What does he say to us… what does he ask us to do?
Like the disciples, we need to return to our everyday responsibilities. We need to live our mountaintop experience in the midst of the poor, suffering, and marginalized, so they too can hear they are beloved and chosen of God.
Can we listen to them?
Jesus invites us to be transformed, to be his presence in the world. He enables us to look into the eyes of others and say… Behold the image of God… LISTEN.
