Wednesday Reflection: November 23, 2022

November 23, 2022

Dear Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving!  My prayer is that you will have the chance to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.

During prayer this week, so many things entered my mind about how blessed I am and how much gratitude I feel. It’s amazing when you take the time to inventory how much has happened in your life, and how much is still to come. God is good, all the time – all the time, God is good!

I am also fortunate to have some great friends on Facebook that share inspiring thoughts, and I thought that I would share several with you:

Gratitude is a flower that blooms in noble souls. (Pope Francis)

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.  (William Arthur Ward)

Gratitude is not a passive response to something we have been given, gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that lives within and without us. Gratitude is not necessarily something that is shown after the event, it is the deep, a state of attention that shows we understand and are equal to the gifted nature of life. (David Whyte)

I especially like the line: “gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that lives within and without us.”  So often we miss the little things that truly are blessings! As you gather around your family table on Thanksgiving or share a meal with friends, I am sure you will hear many reasons why people are thankful. Let us keep in mind all those who at this time or throughout this year have had a challenge in being Thankful. Prayer is powerful, so whisper one for them.

Happy Thanksgiving and know that you will be in my prayers of Gratitude today and always.

Till next week,

Sister Theresita
