Some time ago, I was able to have dinner with a friend. When we finished my friend read her fortune cookie, which said, “A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.”
Once again, another great quote that makes a lot of sense and gives you a lot to think about! Finding time to spend with friends that you haven’t seen for a long time is truly a gift. It can be very energizing, as well as challenging. I often wonder if that is how Jesus felt when He visited those whom he considered friends as He traveled through the Israeli countryside, as well as during the time He spent with His apostles. What time and space available could be so small, but it would have brought much happiness: a small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.
This quote also brought to mind the people that I ministered with while in Haiti. They had so little, but I’d never seen so many smiling faces; they were able to smile in the face of poverty, and yet I’ve also encountered so much sadness displayed by people living in abundance. It’s all a matter of perspective.
Do I have what I want, or want what I have?
Am I satisfied with what I have?
Today, am I experiencing the desire shared by many, to accumulate more and more?
A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.
The summer time is a great chance to look at who our friends are, what we have, and whether we our living our lives to the fullest, no matter the size of the house in which we live. Spend a little extra time this summer on developing your relationships with God, with your family, and with friends. You will never regret it.
I am truly grateful for the time I am allotted to develop my relationships, and I am counting all of it as a gift. Thank you, God, for the abundance in my life, and the lives of those around me!
Remember: A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.
Till next week,
