Dear Friends,
I just love this week after Easter! It is partly because I love the fact that Mary Magdalene was the first to see Jesus, and she had the duty and privilege of running to spread the Good News. I have always thought that, together, we could have spread the Good News of the Resurrection twice as fast!
Those of you who know me well know how I love to promote a great happening. If you recall last week’s reflection, the “BE”-Attitude of Pope Francis was to Be My Witness. Mary Magdalene was certainly a great witness to the Resurrection! I pray that I can live up to her example.
By some act of God, a particular podcast keeps playing on my car radio; I don’t know how it landed on my playlists and I can’t seem to get it off. The podcast, by Fr. Mike Schmitz, is all about mercy. I can’t get this particular line out of my head:
“Mercy is when we love someone who needs it the most and deserves it the least.”
Wow! It’s easy to be kind to someone who appreciates your effort, but on the other hand…? With this thought in mind, how am I a witness of mercy to those in need? Can I really give without counting the cost? We’re all only human, after all; it can be a real challenge!
During this Easter season, I am doing all that I can to share the joy of the Resurrection with others. If the mood in the room is less than joyful, do I adopt the mood, or am I able to influence the mood and bring the joy of the Good News to light? We really can’t change anyone but ourselves, and as we witness the joy, mercy, and hope of this sacred season, God will be in the midst of it and “all will be well”! (Julian of Norwich)
Try to use this Easter season to absorb all of the wonderful things that happened for the followers of Jesus and share in the joy and mercy they experience and shared amongst one another. May your week be exciting!
Till next week,
Sister Theresita
