Dear Friends,
On the Eucharistic Revival webpage, we read, "Revival is not something we do. It is God stirring the hearts of His people.” The value of everyone in God’s eyes is captured in this reflection, “You are not an accident. The God who created the universe, who set the moon and stars in place, loves YOU and chose YOU, even before the world was formed. He knows you better than you know yourself, and He loves you simply because you are YOU. There are no conditions on His love: at every moment you are infinitely loved by Him. You are dear to Him. “Jesus in the Eucharist is the ongoing pledge of that love.
Once, while praying before the Blessed Sacrament, our Mother Foundress reflected that the hearts of every individual we love and who love us are joined with the Heart of Jesus in the Eucharist. In his recent encyclical, Dilexit Nos, released just last week, Pope Francis commented that we live in a “heartless” world. All we need to do is to watch the news, read the newspaper or follow social media and this is obvious. But Our Holy Father goes on to say that devotion to the Sacred Heart opens our hearts so that we can love and be loved. Devotion to the Sacred Heart expands the Gospel admonition to love God and love neighbor. Jesus is our model par excellence in loving. Pope Francis encourages us to contemplate the love of the Sacred Heart which inspires us to love and serve others. This is the aim of the Eucharistic Revival: to cultivate this deeper heart-to-heart, personal relationship with Our Eucharistic Lord and bring the fruits of that relationship into our relationship with others.
One way, as previously noted, is the Eucharistic Revival’s Walk With One initiative. In this Year of Mission, Catholics across the U.S. are participating in this special form of heart-to-heart accompaniment through which we can be God’s instrument in the life of another person. This and other resources for The Year of Mission can be accessed at https://www.eucharisticrevival.org/revival-resources. Our invitation this year is two-fold: responding to Our Lord’s personal call to develop a relationship with Him through participation in the Eucharist and Adoration and joining Him on mission for the life of the world! How will you respond?
Continued blessings in the Holy Family on our mutual Eucharistic journey,
Sister Marcella Louise Wallowicz CSFN
