Gospel: Matthew 16:13-19
This Sunday we celebrate the great Feast of two very courageous, determined and dynamic saints who, although serving different communities of people in the early church, gave their every breath to witnessing to the Lord Jesus and building up the People of God. Both saints we honor had to come to their strong faith through challenges and weaknesses. Peter denied Jesus and learned through sorrow; the deep forgiveness Jesus offers. Paul had converted from persecutor to defender of Christians through meeting Jesus on the road. Thus, we can each find ourselves in the stories of Peter and Paul. What talent or gift of yours will you recognize today and ask God's help in offering to those who may need it? What weakness in yourself will you offer to God and ask Him to use it for the good of His Church? Where do you meet Jesus- at home, at work, at the car wash, at the grocery store or playground? Every place is GOD'S place. Be present to others in those places. The church and the world are in great need of each person's offering of self. Change the world for good. Be a witness like Peter and Paul. Accept any imperfection and use it as a gift back to the God who always works with you and within you.
