Gospel: Luke 12:32-48
Have you ever come across something and thought you would do almost anything to have it? Did you sit and ponder what you would have to give up to have it? Would it be hard or easy to do? Would it be worth it in the end?
In the Gospel today, Jesus is talking to the group about a treasure found in heaven, a treasure that can’t be destroyed or taken away, unlike the things in our possession today which can be taken at any time.
Jesus is talking about trusting the words that he says, that speak of the goodness and the love His Father can give us in His kingdom. This love and goodness can never be taken away no matter what. But Jesus goes on to say that it’s important to stay vigilant and ready for we do not know when the Master will come and will expect an account for our actions.
Will I be ready to show my Master (God) that I have been a good and trusting servant by sharing the riches God has given me for the betterment of others? When He arrives unexpectantly, does He find His servant mistreating or misusing what I have been given?
Much is expected of us along our path of life. How do I measure up at this point?
