Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome

Gospel: John 2:13-22

We read that wherever the river flows, there is incredible abundance; that our stronghold is God; and that the Spirit of God dwells in each of us. Furthermore, we are encouraged to take the best care of this temple.

So, I ask myself regularly: how do I respect and care for this God-given gift of my total being? Recognizing that this treasure is for others, do I respect and care for the needs of my body, my mind, my emotions, and my spirit? Do I accept and appreciate who I am — not perfect, nor like anyone else, but hopefully the best of all that I am? What aspect of my being is calling me to be my better self, my healthier self, my more balanced self, my most genuine self? Do I continue to strive to develop my full potential? What changes do I need to make to see more clearly what that direction actually is? In addition to daily prayer, is there someone in my life who can help me see that needed direction?

Lord, please help me become more of my truer, better self today and in the days ahead!
