Wednesday Reflection - November 26, 2025

November 26, 2025

Dear Friends,

I get a little sad when I see all the Christmas decorations coming out even before we finish celebrating Halloween. People tell me that Thanksgiving is only a day, whereas Christmas is a SEASON! I don’t think they mean the liturgical season either. So Happy Thanksgiving Day!

I am guessing that there are a few of you out there who would agree with me, and so I share this thought with you:

“A thankful heart is a heart that notices the goodness in life, receives each day as a gift, and responds with joy, humility, and love. It is a way of seeing—recognizing God’s blessings in both the big and small moments, and letting that gratitude shape how we live, give, and treat others.”

Thanksgiving Day is when family and friends come together to watch a parade or football and enjoy a delicious meal. I think it goes beyond that. It is a lifetime season; it’s an everyday occurrence. It’s being present and thankful for the moment we are in, even if it is a challenging one. Again, some word of wisdom from George Herbert and an excerpt from his poem ‘GRATEFULNESS’:

Thou hast given so much to me,

Give one thing more — a grateful heart.

Not thankful when it pleaseth me,

As if Thy blessings had spare days;

But such a heart, whose pulse may be

Thy praise.

Take time this Thanksgiving Day to remember and count your blessings. Share them with your family and perhaps start a daily gratitude Journal for yourself or with your family. (Wouldn’t that be exciting?) Then, on Thanksgiving Day next year, look at all the things you are grateful for.

Till next week,

Sister Theresita
