
Gospel Reading: John 20:19-31
On Divine Mercy Sunday, the first reading proclaims that “Awe came upon everyone” (Acts 2:42-47).
How could awe not come upon us when we have the Risen Christ extending his mercy to each and every one of us? No matter how we may have strayed from Our Lord, He stands ready to bring us back into the fold. We are grounded in His very being. Let us never forget that essential point of our faith.
Since “The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone,” we, too, are part of that marvelous edifice of Jesus Christ. Others may choose to ignore our person, but to know that Jesus Christ, in His humanity and divinity, body and soul, is waiting for us supersedes anything else we can possibly imagine.
How can we not exchange that mercy with others and proclaim with the apostle Thomas, “My Lord and my God!
