Gospel Reading: Matthew 28:16-20
During the Last Supper, Jesus spoke much of glory, the glory the Son gives to the Father, and the glory the Father gives to the Son. He also spoke of those whom the Father had given him, because in them Jesus has been glorified. That’s us! It’s difficult to understand that Jesus is glorified in us and how he is glorified in us. We are more aware of how our sins have led Jesus to the cross. Yet, Jesus tells us in no uncertain terms that he is, indeed, glorified in us. Jesus glorified his Father by accomplishing the work that he was given to do. We glorify the Father and the Son by accomplishing the work that we are given to do in the vocation to which we are called. Through our adoption, we have been made an intimate part of the divine family. St.Peter tells us that, through the power and glory of Jesus, we may come to participate in the divine nature (2:4). He reveals that our sufferings “may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:6-7).
