Gospel Reading: Matthew 13:24-43
Today’s Gospel helps me to realize how often I expect immediate results in my faith and in my life. When I see struggles, failures, or the presence of evil, I want quick answers and easy solutions. Yet Jesus reminds me that God works with patience. Like the wheat growing alongside the weeds, my own heart contains both strengths and weaknesses. Instead of becoming discouraged by my imperfections, I’m invited to trust that God is still at work within me, helping the good to grow.
The parables of the mustard seed and the yeast also provide comfort. They remind me that even the smallest acts of faith – a quiet prayer, a kind word, or a simple act of service – can make a difference. I don’t have to do extraordinary things to build God’s kingdom; I simply need to be faithful in the little things in my own small corner of the world each day.
Matthew’s stories encourage me to stop focusing on what I can’t control and place my confidence in God’s plan. He sees the bigger picture that I cannot. My task is to keep choosing goodness, to be patient with myself and others, and to trust that, in his time, God will bring about a harvest far greater than I can imagine.
