Wednesday Reflection

November 4, 2026

Dear Friends,

Sometimes during our evening prayer, we use the song “Center of My Life” by Peter Inwood. As I reflect, it struck me that this simple song spoke of all that was happening in my life, the lives of families, the church, and the world.

Let me share with you some of the words: “LORD, YOU ARE THE CENTER OF MY LIFE; I will always praise you, I will always serve you, I will always keep you in my sight…you will show me the path of life, the fullness of joy in your presence, at your right hand, happiness forever.”

Interesting how something can be right in front of us, and we don’t see or hear it. Listening to the song again, my life flashed before me, and all I could think was, “Is God always the center of my life?” Do I realize that today we can stray so far from these values, and yet they can help us with some of our daily challenges? IF God were the center of my life, how would I treat others who come into my life? If God were the center of my life, would His JOY radiate from me? IF God were the center of my life, could I let go of being in control, or always being right? So many questions, but the answer is simple. “Do I make God the center of my life?”

With the sadness, selfishness, hate, and anger that infiltrate our world today, wouldn’t it be great if each of us would look to God as the center of our lives? Power, control, storing up treasures, ambition, jealousy, or the way of entitlement- these words are different than the words in the song.

This coming week, I offer you these questions to reflect on. How good are you at keeping God as the center of your life? What causes you to put other things first? What can you do to make God a higher priority in your everyday life? When God is the center of your life how has this helped you to be more loving to yourself and others? Have a great week centered around your life with God.

Till next week,
