Nov. 21: Wednesday Reflection

November 21, 2018

Dear Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! My prayer is that you will have the chance to be with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day.

During prayer this week so many things entered my mind about how blessed and grateful I am. It’s amazing what you discover when you take the time to inventory how much has happened and is still to come. God is good, all the time -- all the time, God is good!

I am also fortunate to have read some inspiring thoughts recently and thought I would share several with you on this special eve:

Gratitude is a flower that blooms in noble souls. -- Pope Francis

Gratitude is not a passive response to something we have been given, gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that lives within and without us. Gratitude is not necessarily something that is shown after the event, it is the deep, a state of attention that shows we understand and are equal to the gifted nature of life. -- David Whyte

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. -- William Arthur Ward

I especially like David Whyte’s line that says, “…gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that lives within and without us.” So often we miss the little things that truly are blessings. As you gather around your family table tomorrow or share a meal with friends, I am sure you will hear many reasons why people are thankful. Let us keep in mind those who at this time of year have a challenge being thankful. Prayer is powerful, so whisper one for them.

Happy Thanksgiving and know that you will be in my prayers of gratitude tomorrow and always.

Till next week,

Sister Theresita
