Gospel Reflection: November 7, 2021 – 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

November 6, 2021

Matthew 12:38-44

The widow in today's Gospel offers a lesson to us in giving with a generous spirit. The woman offers her mite, all that she had to live on, so that others less fortunate could be provided with the necessities for life. She, in turn, trusts that God will provide for her needs. This act of generosity does not escape notice by Jesus, who commends her.

We are approaching the Thanksgiving and Christmas Seasons, a time typically characterized by giving and sharing from our monetary resources; however, God asks that we share all the gifts we have been blessed with including our time. Any "mite" on our part can have a profound effect on others. May we not miss any opportunity to do good.

Blessings!
