Wednesday Reflection: October 25, 2023

October 25, 2023

Dear Friends,

On Sunday during our evening prayer, we used the song Center of My Life by Peter Inwood. As I listen to the words, it struck me that this simple song spoke of all that was happening in my life: the Church, the world, and especially the Eucharistic Revival.

Let me share with you some of the lyrics:

Lord, you are the center of my life

I will always praise you

I will always serve you

I will always keep you in my sight…

You will show me the path of life

The fullness of joy in your presence

At your right hand, happiness forever

Interesting how something can be right in front of us, and we don’t see or hear it. That evening when I heard this song, my life flashed before me, and all I could think of was “is God always the center of my life?”

I realized that in today’s society, we can stray so far away from these values, and yet they could help us with some of our daily challenges.

IF God were the center of my life, how would I treat others who come into my life?

IF God were the center of my life, would His JOY be radiating from me?

IF God were the center of my life, could I let go of being in control, or always being right?

So many questions, but the solution is simple: “Do I make God the center of my life?”

With the sadness, selfishness, hate, and anger that infiltrates our world today, wouldn’t it be great if each of us would look to God being the center of our lives? Power, control, storing up treasures, ambition, jealousy, or entitlement… these words are certainly different than the words in the song!

During this coming week, I offer you these questions you might want to reflect on:

How good are you at keeping God as the center of your life?

What causes you to put other things first?

What can you do to increase God’s priority in your everyday life?

When God is the center of your life, how has this helped you to be more loving to yourself and others?

Have a great week, centered around your life with God!

Till next week,

Sister Theresita
