Dear Friends,
Well, the time has finally arrived! Indianapolis is the place to be this month as tens of thousands gather for the 10th National Eucharistic Congress, July 17-21. The National Eucharistic Congress marks a transition from the Year of Parish Revival to the Year of Mission in which we all are called to be disciples on mission. The Year of Parish Revival was the opportunity to renew or deepen our personal relationship with our Eucharistic Lord. Now we are invited to share the fruits of this year and the events of this summer and bring Christ’s love to a world still hungering for it.
The planners have formulated an impressive five-day schedule for the Congress participants:
The Indianapolis Convention Center also will be a key site for activities and exhibits, including the Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit and a replica of the Shroud of Turin. There will be an opportunity to pray in the Reliquary Chapel and to feed the hungry by participating in the "Million Meal Movement." Choirs, musicians and even a Catholic magician will provide lively entertainment. Special activities for children will be available. The Convention Center will feature Catechesis of the Good Shepherd “atriums,” which are Montessori principle age-appropriate ways for children to encounter God.
1976 was a special year for one generation of Catholics as the United States marked its bicentennial year by hosting the 41st International Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia. Now, 2024 has become a special year for a new generation of Catholics. The Holy Spirit is once again empowering Catholics to witness their faith in the Real Presence and invite others into relationship with Our Eucharistic Lord.
Certain sessions of the National Eucharistic Congress will be live streamed. Plans are underway. Up to date information can be located at https://www.eucharisticcongress.org/ Another streaming site for Congress events is https://www.ewtn.com/eucharist
Blessings in the Holy Family and through Our Eucharistic Lord,
